Experience

With close to ten years of experience in publishing, I have worked as both a commissioning editor at Palgrave Macmillan and then as a managing editor at Tor/Forge Books in New York City. For the past three years, I have worked as a freelance copy editor and proofreader for major publishers, including Macmillan, HarperCollins, InkShares, Little Bee Books, and most recently as a copy editor for The Sunday Morning Transport, edited by Fran Wilde and Julian Yap. I have worked on hundreds of titles as a freelancer and hundreds more as a previous editor, both as an acquisitions editor but also as a production editor.

Skills

I offer copy editing and proofreading services on both fiction and nonfiction. This involves improving a book's readability and sentence flow, correcting grammatical issues and typos, fact-checking, mapping a book's timeline, and anything else that turns a messy manuscript into a polished, publishable work. However, I do not do developmental editing (for an explanation on what this means, this website does a fantastic job defining it).

All genres

My genre experience has crossed every imaginable path. I have worked on thrillers, true crime, mysteries, science fiction, historical fiction, horror, hard nonfiction, memoirs, fantasy, military fiction, short story collections, graphic novels, romance, and more! My wide-ranging experience with such eclectic works has prepared me to take on any project. Cookbooks and crossword puzzles are the only exceptions.
